Visiting the Rock Art Center

Did I say I was going to be better about keeping this updated?!  Ooopps!  We've been keeping really busy with school work, activities and work.

Last Friday the kids and I went to the Deer Valley Rock Art Center.  We learned about petroglyphs and went on a nature walk to see some petroglyphs.  Along the way we had a guide who told us about the desert, the local indian tribes (he was Native American) and the petroglyphs.  The kids thought it was pretty neat and Adam was quite impressed by our guide (when he got in the car he said, "Wow, Mom!  That was a real live indian".

The kids weren't too sure about all of the Beware of Rattlesnake signs along the path.  Our guide informed us that it was too hot for them to be out so that made us all feel better. (I guess it was good that it was 94 degrees that day!)

Along the walk.  The kids were each given a treasure hunt worksheet on a clipboard so they could try to locate all of the petroglyphs.  They were given a little prize for finding them all.
