I've been promising my mom the recipe for Cincinnati Chili for about a year now. The weather is definitely chili weather today so I thought it was time to share the recipe with her
*1 1/2 pounds ground beef *1 medium size onion, chopped *2 large garlic cloves, minced *2 tsp chili powder *1/4 tsp ground cinnamon *dash of ground cloves *3 - 4 cups tomato juice (depends on how thick you like it- you can always add more) *2 can kidney beans, drained (use any kind- I like to use one can of red and one can of white)
Cook ground beef, onion and garlic until beef is browned; drain fat. In a large pot, mix beef mixture, chili powder, cinnamon and ground cloves. Cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Add in tomato juice and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 - 45 minutes (be sure to check it on occasion in case you need to add more tomato juice). Stir in beans, cover and let simmer for about another 15 minutes, stir occasionally. Serve over hot spaghetti.
